AI job-search tools are most useful when they help you make a decision, not just produce more applications. Use this workflow to compare roles you have found, choose where to spend your time, and prepare an application you can stand behind.
1. Start with your actual experience and priorities
Upload your existing CVs and cover letters to the Document Library. Use documents that accurately describe your responsibilities, skills and achievements; correct outdated information before relying on a tailored draft. Review your Career Targets so that the comparison reflects what matters to you: overall fit, success likelihood, pay, progression, flexibility and your own custom target. For example, a role with more responsibility may still be a poor choice if flexibility is your main priority.
2. Bring in roles you have already found
Open the job listings you want to compare in Chrome and use the CVJumper extension to import loaded job tabs. Check that the captured title, employer and job description match the listing. If the page is incomplete or an import fails, do not treat missing requirements as evidence that you meet them. Confirm the vacancy is still open on the employer's page before spending time on an application. CVJumper helps organise opportunities; it does not find every available job or submit applications for you.
3. Compare the reasons, not just the score
Review the opportunity analysis and Focus List together. CVJumper compares roles across six dimensions and groups opportunities into priority tiers. Read the explanation behind each score against your documents and the listing. Estimated pay and success likelihood are AI assessments, not verified salary offers or measured odds of getting hired. If salary is not stated, ask the recruiter; if a required skill is missing from your background, decide whether your adjacent experience genuinely addresses it. A high score is a starting point for your judgement, not a guarantee.
4. Make a short list you can act on
Choose the opportunities with the strongest evidence of fit and acceptable trade-offs. Add your own opportunity notes to record questions, concerns and facts you still need to check. For example: 'Confirm office attendance with the recruiter; the listing only says hybrid.' Compare that uncertainty with another role's clearly stated arrangement instead of accepting an AI flexibility estimate as fact. Keep lower-priority roles available for review rather than tailoring every listing immediately.
5. Tailor the CV and cover letter to the selected role
In the Workbench, select the opportunity and the source documents, then generate role-specific drafts. Review whether the summary, skills and achievements address the job's actual responsibilities. Use the editing and chat controls to refine the wording; make sure every achievement, date, qualification and claim remains true. An ATS-style score can highlight possible gaps, but it is not a result from the employer's screening system and does not guarantee acceptance. Read the cover letter alongside the CV so both tell the same, evidence-based story, then export your reviewed documents as DOCX files.
6. Prepare for questions and follow up deliberately
Use the role-specific interview questions and sample responses to practise explaining your strongest evidence and any genuine gaps. Adapt suggestions into your own words rather than memorising claims you cannot support. Submit the application yourself through the employer's chosen channel. After marking the opportunity as applied, you can set a follow-up reminder. Check the employer's stated process before contacting them; a reminder helps you organise the next step, not predict a response.
Before you send: a final evidence check
Confirm the role is open, your contact details are current, every claim is supported by your experience, and the exported documents read correctly. Check any uncertain salary, location or working-arrangement assumptions with the employer. CVJumper assists with ranking, drafting and practice; your review remains essential, and neither a tailored application nor an AI score promises an interview or a job offer.
